How much does a wood fence cost?
It depends on how much fence you need, how many gates, and what has to come out first. A short flat run behind a townhouse and a long line across a sloping acre are different jobs, and quoting either one over the phone would be guessing. How long does a cedar fence last in Texas?
Fifteen to twenty years is fair when the posts were set properly and the fence gets stained on something like a schedule. The sun is harder on wood here than the cold is further north, so the west-facing run is usually the one that ages first.

Every installation gets a 2x6 bottom runner with top and bottom horizontal supports, and framing galvanized ring shank nails throughout. Ring shank nails hold where a smooth nail works loose as the wood moves, which in this climate it will. Those are the parts of a fence nobody photographs and the parts that decide whether it is still straight in ten years.

Is wood cheaper than vinyl in the long run?
